Celgene's flagship products Thalomid and Revlimid are versions of the infamous thalidomide, the morning sickness remedy pulled from shelves in the 1960s after it was linked to birth defects. Both drugs are approved in the US and Europe as a treatment for multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer). Revlimid also is used to treat a malignant blood disease called MDS. Celgene sells each drug under strict risk management plans that ensure they are safely administered. The firm has other drugs in development that combat inflammatory diseases and cancer.
