Carvin has put its guitars into the hands of musicians such as Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, and The Eagles. While Carvin's guitars aren't as well-known as Gibson and Fender, the firm has filled a value niche in the guitar market for more than 60 years. Carvin makes electric and acoustic guitars, electric basses, and a full line of amplifiers and PA equipment. It manufactures products at its factory showroom in San Diego and sells them at stores in San Diego, Sacramento, Hollywood, and Santa Ana, California, as well as via catalog and online. The guitar maker also distributes its instruments internationally. Carvin began in 1946 as L. C. Kiesel Co. The firm is still owned and managed by the Kiesel family.
