Company Description
Carr-Gottstein Foods could sell ice to the Eskimos ... and it does. Alaska's largest grocery retailer operates more than 30 stores primarily in Anchorage, as well as in Fairbanks, Kenai, and other locations throughout the state. Banners include Carrs Quality Centers, which sell food, general, and drugstore merchandise, as well as its smaller food stores in more rural areas under the Eagle Quality Centers banner and other trade names. Carr-Gottstein also runs Oaken Keg Spirit Shops (wine and liquor stores), mostly adjacent to Carrs stores, and The Great Alaska Tobacco Company stores. Carr-Gottstein is a wholly owned subsidiary of Safeway, one of North America's largest food retailers.
