Company Description

Carolee is a true pearl of the mid-range designer jewelry culture. Known for its pearl and sterling silver jewelry, the company designs and distributes rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings to more than 700 US department stores, including Dillard's, Lord & Taylor, and Macy's, as well as through its Web site. The firm also provides private-label products for such brands as Polo Ralph Lauren. Founded in 1973 by Carolee Friedlander, the company began selling its costume pieces through a handful of department stores and a single storefront. It was acquired by Retail Brand Alliance in 2001 and later shuttered its retail shops. Carolee is focusing on building its wholesale business domestically and overseas.
