CaroMont Health is an independent not-for-profit health care system serving residents of Gastonia, a community just west of Charlotte in North Carolina's Piedmont region. Anchoring CaroMont Health is Gaston Memorial Hospital, a 435-bed medical and surgical facility that features a birthing center, an inpatient psychiatric ward, and specialized facilities for heart disease, cancer, sleep disorders, diabetes, and wound care. Other operations include a nearly 100-bed nursing home, an outpatient surgery center, and about 30 primary and specialty medical practices. CaroMont Health also provides home health and hospice care services. CaroMont Health is governed by the North Carolina Medical Care Commission.
