The company (named after 16th century Spanish explorer Juan Sebastian del Cano), focuses on buying undervalued mature properties (primarily in Texas and Oklahoma) that still have development potential. In 2010 Cano agreed to be acquired by fellow oil and gas explorer Resaca Exploitation, but the deal fell through.
