Company Description
Founded in 1889 as a tea garden in India, Camellia has since evolved into an international investment firm. The company, whose name comes from the botanical name for tea, has holdings in a variety of industries ranging from agriculture and food distribution to finance and engineering. Camellia still owns tea plantations in Bangladesh and India, in addition to farming operations in Brazil, Kenya, Malawi, and South Africa. In the UK, it owns private bank Duncan Lawrie, the Robinson Bois Dickson Anderson consultancy, frozen food distributer Associated Cold Stores & Transports, and several manufacturing concerns. Camellia also runs California-based Horizon Farms, which produces citrus and pistachios.
