Company Description
All things being equal, the California State Board of Equalization (BOE) has a corner on the gold in the Golden State. The BOE collects and administers the state's tax and fee programs, including sales and usage, property, and special taxes (alcohol and tobacco), which together provide about one-third of the state's annual tax revenue. The board-administered monies support state and local government programs and services in corrections and social welfare, hospital and health care, housing, law enforcement, natural resource management, schools and universities, and transportation. The board operates roughly 25 field offices throughout California and out-of-state offices in Chicago, Houston, and New York City.
