The California African American Museum (CAAM) is dedicated to preserving the culture and art of African Americans. Founded in 1981, the museum consists of three exhibition galleries, a research library, sculpture court, theater gallery, and conference center. CAAM displays a history collection including artifacts and photography, as well as traditional, modern, and contemporary artwork. Jack Haywood and the late Vince Proby, both African American architects, designed the current museum facility.
