Company Description
Caledon Resources digs it up Down Under. The company explores for and produces coal in the Bowen Basin in Australia. Its primary producing mine, the Cook property of Queensland, had been decommissioned before Caledon took it over in 2006. The mine annually produces about 535 tons, with about 80% of its output coking coal and 20% thermal coal. The company also explores at the Minyanco coal deposit; full production there awaits completion of the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal in Gladstone in 2014. Guangdong Rising Assets Management Co. made a buyout offer for Caledon in 2010, and in August 2011 a scheme of arrangement for the buyout was finalized.
