CPEX Pharmaceuticals has set out on its own to seek its fortunes in the drug industry. Formerly a unit of generic drugmaker Bentley Pharmaceuticals, the company was spun off in 2008 into a separate, publicly traded entity. It is developing prescription drugs using its CPE-215 drug delivery technology, which allows for drug absorption via the skin, nasal mucosa, and eyes. Auxilium Pharmaceuticals licensed the technology for its FDA-approved testosterone replacement gel Testim.
