CHC Helicopter likes to hover around. The company's divisions include CHC Global, CHC European, Heli-One, and Fleet (management). It operates approximately 250 helicopters in some 30 countries. The majority of company revenues comes from providing helicopter support to the oil and gas industry, i.e., servicing offshore platforms. CHC does much of its business in the North Sea; it also operates in several other major offshore oil production areas. It provides additional services including emergency medical; civilian search and rescue; and helicopter maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) through its Heli-One unit. Investment firm First Reserve, which specializes in the energy industry, owns CHC.
