Company Description
Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) distributes the wealth so that its stations can spread the news. A federal agency, BBG oversees the funding of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Voice of America, and a handful of other stations that broadcast news internationally. Collectively its stations, which reach an audience of more than 175 million radio listeners, TV viewers, and Internet users each week, broadcast in 60 languages in countries that traditionally have restrictive media laws, including Nigeria, Cuba, Indonesia, China, North Korea, and several Middle Eastern countries. The BBG was formed in 1999 as part of the 1998 Foreign Affairs Reform and Restructuring Act.
