Company Description

Brightstar hopes to outshine its rivals with service. The company distributes wireless products such as cell phones and prepaid wireless products. It also offers value-added services including merchandising, channel sales, inventory management, logistics, packaging, and assembly services, as well as supply chain and reverse logistics services. It distributes cell phones made by Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola Mobility, and RIM, among others. With operations in some 50 countries, the company gets more than two-thirds of sales from outside North America, primarily from Latin America. Brightstar was founded in 1997 by CEO Marcelo Claure, who owns about 42% of the company. It filed for an IPO in 2011.
