Investment firm Brederode concentrates on public and private companies in the US and Western Europe. Its publicly traded holdings include firms in the insurance, electricity, oil, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods sectors, among others. The company also teams up with other institutional investors such as The Carlyle Group, Doughty Hanson, Providence Equity Partners, and H.I.G. Capital in leveraged buyouts of established private firms. More than half of Brederode's private equity investments are based in the US, though its largest shareholdings include minority stakes in publicly traded European business giants Unilever, Royal Dutch Shell, Eni, BP, and investment firm Sofina.
