Italian may be the language of love, but English is the language of money. Borsa Italiana was swept off its feet by the London Stock Exchange, which bought the Italian exchange in 2007. Operational since 1998, Borsa Italiana lists some 700 companies. The company manages the Italian equities market (MTA), as well as derivatives, electronic fixed income, electronic ETFs, and closed-end fund markets. Its MTA International lists foreign companies. The exchange also operates an after-hours trading market.
