Borgess Medical Center is part of the Borgess Health Alliance, which is a member of the Ascension Health network. The general acute care facility, which serves residents of southwestern Michigan, houses some 425 beds and has a comprehensive offering of medical and surgical services, including specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart disease, neuroscience, and orthopedics. Borgess Medical Center also serves as a Level 1 trauma center and features a research institute, a sleep disorders clinic, a weight loss surgery center, and outpatient facilities. The hospital was founded in 1889 by a local priest.
