Chronicles of the boy wizard Harry Potter have lent a magical quality to Bloomsbury Publishing's bottom line. J.K. Rowling's mega-successful series has brought this small publisher to worldwide fame, but Bloomsbury also has other best-selling authors on its list, including Joanna Trollope, John Irving, Margaret Atwood, and Michael Ondaatje. Bloomsbury also publishes non-fiction titles, including Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain, the famous-persons reference title Who's Who, and the Whitaker's Almanack, primarily through its A&C Black subsidiary. Outside London, the company has offices in New York, Berlin, and Sydney. Nigel Newton, formerly employed by Macmillan Publishers, founded Bloomsbury in 1986.
