Company Description
BioSyntech specialized in the development of biotherapeutic thermogels to be used for human tissue repair and therapeutic delivery. The company's BST-Gels were liquid at room temperature but solidified at human body temperature, and they were classified as medical devices by the FDA and other regulators. Potential products included cartilage repair, heel cushioning, and chronic wound healing therapies. The company funded development efforts through the sale of Ultrasan, a pure form of chitosan (derived from chitin and also used in the thermogels), and related analytical instruments. After facing bankruptcy, BioSyntech sold its assets to India-based pharmaceutical manufacturer Piramal Healthcare.
