Company Description

What did the NBA's Pistons, Motown, and a multimillion-dollar auto supplier have in common? Dave Bing -- a retired basketball player, Hall of Famer, mayor of Detroit, and founder and owner of Bing Holdings. Bing Holdings comprised a diverse group of manufacturing companies, serving customers primarily in the automotive, and, to a lesser extent, appliance and office furniture industries. The company sold its steel stamping and assembly division, Bing Metals, to L&W Engineering (operating as Oakland Stamping) in late 2009. The Steel Processing division, which treated flat-rolled stainless steel, was put up for liquidation in early 2010. Bing Holdings was once one of the largest black-owned businesses in the US.
