Company Description

Founded in 1967 by Jewish-Italian immigrants as an Italian non-marine treaty reinsurer, Lloyd's of London insurance broker Besso has expanded its reach and now spans the globe. The company's offerings include aviation, commercial property/casualty, marine, professional indemnity, and reinsurance coverage to businesses worldwide. Chairman Colin Bird, along with others, bought the company in 1985, developed it, and then sold it to Jardine Insurance Brokers. They then ended up buying it back, with some financial backing, in 1995.
