Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas is the flagship institution of the Baylor Health Care System. The medical center (a.k.a.: Baylor Dallas) serves residents of the Dallas area with some 1,000 inpatient beds and more than 1,200 physicians. Its offerings range from general medical and surgical services to specialty care in a wide range of fields, including oncology, cardiovascular disease, and neuroscience. The hospital also features a Level I trauma center, neonatal ICU, and organ transplantation center. Founded in 1903, the Baylor Dallas campus includes the Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center and the Baylor Research Institute, which conducts basic and clinical research across numerous medical specialties.
