Company Description
Need some news before the lights go down in the city? Bay City News Service provides breaking-news bulletins, news articles and features, and entertainment coverage to subscribers in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Its staff consists of more than 20 reporters working out of nine bureaus throughout the region. Customers include newspaper, radio, and television newsrooms, PR firms, Web sites, and government agencies. The service was modeled after the famed City News Bureau of Chicago, which operated from 1890 to 1999. Bay City News Service began operating in 1979 from a small Grove Street office, overlooking San Francisco's Civic Center. It was founded by Richard Fogel and his wife Marcia.
