BayWa (pronounced bay-vah) is divided into several business units: agricultural (grain and oil fruit trading, fertilizers, insecticides, feed, seed, fresh fruit production), agricultural equipment (farm machinery, tools), building materials (building components and equipment), renewable energy products and services (wind, solar), do-it-yourself and garden centers (paint, hardware, tools, fixtures, plants, pet products), and energy (gas stations, heating oil, lubricants, mineral oils). The company was founded as Bavarian Trading Co. in 1923, when it split from the Bavarian Savings & Loan.
