It also makes urns and other memorial products for the cremation market. The firm's direct sales force sells Batesville caskets to licensed funeral homes in the US, as well as in Australia, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and the UK. It supplies about half of the US market. Batesville makes most of its caskets in the US, but boasts additional manufacturing plants in Mexico. It also offers display furniture for funerals. Batesville Casket is the sole operating company of Hillenbrand , created when Hillenbrand Industries spun off its funeral services unit in 2008.
