If you wanted clean water in your basin, you wanted Basin Water. The company designed and built water treatment systems that remove chemicals like arsenic and chromium. City utilities and other water suppliers bought the systems; Basin Water had about 80 installations in Arizona, California, and New Jersey. Customers included American Water, California Water Service, and American States Water Company. Basin Water had focused on the western US, where population growth and dwindling clean water supplies had created a strong demand for groundwater purification. Financially struggling, it filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009 and subsquently sold all of its assets to UK-based water treatment firm Amplio Group.
