Doing business as BankWest, Bank of Western Australia provides mortgages, personal loans, credit cards, savings, and deposit products. It is not merely active in Western Australia, however -- BankWest has established distribution channels in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney; these make up about a half of total lending. BankWest opened for business in 1895 as the Agricultural Bank of Western Australia; it was acquired by Bank of Scotland (the BOS in HBOS) in 1995.
