The company's Protective Insurance subsidiary, licensed in the US and Canada, writes property/casualty insurance for large to midsized trucking fleets and public transportation fleets. It also covers independent contractors in the trucking industry. B&L's Sagamore Insurance subsidiary provides insurance to high-risk private auto drivers throughout most of the US through a network of independent agents. It also markets physical-damage insurance and liability insurance for small trucking fleets and for large and midsized bus fleets. Founded in 1930, B&L also provides property/casualty reinsurance and brokerage services.
