Company Description

You could say that BW Technologies breeds automated canaries for the coal mine. The company designs and manufactures gas detection equipment that measures toxic levels of gases suspended in the air. The company's portable, fixed, and stand-alone products are used primarily in the oil and gas drilling and production industry, as well as in mining and fire rescue applications. Customers include BP, Shell, the US Coast Guard, and the cities of New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The company, which was founded in 1987 by former CEO Cody Slater while he was studying astrophysics at the University of Alberta, was acquired in 2004 by First Technology PLC, which in turn was acquired by Honeywell International in 2006.
