To buy low, try BI-LO. The supermarket chain runs some 205 BI-LO and Super BI-LO grocery stores in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee. Many stores house pharmacies and some boast in-store WI-FI cafés. Offerings include national name brand products, as well as BI-LO's own: Southern Hearth Bakery items, Full Circle natural and organic foods, Top Care health and beauty aids, and Paws Premium pet foods. The grocer acquired Winn-Dixie, with 480 locations, for about $560 million in 2012. The buyout joined two of the South's mainstay regional supermarket chains, expanding their scale with no geographic overlap. Founded in 1961 by Frank Outlaw, BI-LO is majority-owned by Dallas-based investment firm Lone Star Funds.
