BELLUS Health scientists are putting their gray matter to work to find therapies for incurable conditions. BELLUS Health's lead candidate is a potential treatment for Amyloid A amyloidosis, an often fatal condition associated with inflammatory disease and kidney dysfunction. BELLUS Health has licensed the late-stage compound to Celtic Therapeutics for about $10 million. Celtic will market the drug under the name Kiacta. BELLUS Health is also evaluating a potential treatment for type 2 diabetes in clinical trials and has discovery programs in the areas of Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.
