No easy tongue twister, the company (formerly Atlantic Marine Holding Company) offers vessel maintenance, repair, overhaul, assembly, and other services to the US Navy and commercial maritime customers. The company's three shipyards, located along the Gulf of Mexico and the East Coast, are based in Mobile, Alabama; Jacksonville, Florida; and Mayport, Florida. Its Alabama yard features a submersible heavy-lift barge and two floating dry docks, which give workers access to an entire vessel without having to haul it onto land. BAE Systems Inc. acquired the company in mid-2010 from private equity firm J.F. Lehman & Co.
