The biopharmaceutical development company is working to create a new class of anti-inflammatory drugs called decoy ODNs to treat chronic diseases of the respiratory system and skin, specifically asthma and psoriasis. Its AVT-01 in asthma and AVT-02 for inflammatory skin diseases are now in Phase 2 clinical trials. Avontec signed an out-licensing agreement with fellow German company BIOTRONIK for clinical development of a stent for restenosis (collapsed blood vessel).
