Avaya Holdings Corp. is the holding company that owns enterprise communications equipment and services provider Avaya Inc.. Spun off from Lucent Technologies in 2000, Avaya was a publicly traded company until 2007, when it was taken private by Silver Lake Partners and TPG Capital for more than $8 billion. After four years of unprofitable private ownership, its investors are looking for an exit, and Avaya Holdings Corp. was created to make a second bid for listing on a US stock exchange, filing for an initial public offering in 2011. The IPO is on hold, however, and Avaya has been expanding its business and product line through acquisitions.
