But it is perhaps best known for its stake in FBR Capital Markets , which provides investment banking, institutional brokerage, and fee-based asset management services to corporations, institutions, and wealthy individuals. Arlington formed FBR Capital Markets in 2006, but has sold off its stake over time to own only 39% of the business. The company changed its name in 2009 to Arlington Asset Investment Corporation.
