Company Description

Don't call Ares Commercial Real Estate a third wheel in the Ares family of investment vehicles. The company, formed in September 2011, is affiliated with Ares Management and Ares Capital. Ares Commercial Real Estate plans to invest in commercial loans (mortgages, subordinated B-Note mortgages, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity) ranging from $15 million to $100 million, provided it first qualifies as a real estate investment trust (REIT). It will be externally managed by Ares Commercial Real Estate Management LLC, an affiliate of Ares Management. At the time of its formation, Ares Commercial Real Estate filed an initial public offering seeking $250 million.
