Archon is banking on gamblers to follow the trail of the Pioneer. Formerly Santa Fe Gaming, the embattled company owns and operates one casino, the Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall, in Laughlin, Nevada. The Pioneer features some 400 guest rooms and gaming operations that consist of approximately 730 slot machines, six blackjack tables, one craps table, one roulette wheel, and five other gaming tables. The hotel includes two restaurants and bars, a special events area, banquet rooms, and a swimming pool and spa. Gaming accounts for more than half of revenues. Chairman and CEO Paul Lowden owns about 75% of the company.
