Company Description
Antisoma is anti-cancer, but it's having a hard time proving it. After the 2011 late-stage clinical trial of its lead candidate, AS1413, failed to show any benefit over standard therapy, its development was discontinued and the company announced plans to scale back its operations. It reduced its workforce to zero (including all of the executive management team) and cut the board of directors to just five members. Additionally, it cut back on research and development spending by halting clinical trials of cancer treatment AS1411 to minimize cash outflows while it decides what to do with its future. Antisoma is considering either the sale of the company, its closure, the sale of its underlying technology, or a combination thereof.
