Ansaldo STS is a global manufacturer of railway signals for passenger trains, freight trains, high-speed trains, and driverless commuter trains. The company designs, installs, and maintains signaling systems on hundreds of rail networks, including Dublin's light rail, the commuter rail line in Los Angeles and Chicago, the Paris Metro, and most of Italy's rail system. In fact, about two-thirds of the company's sales are in Europe. Ansaldo STS also makes railroad components such as hand-operated and electric switches, track circuits, relays, treadles, and passenger fare gates. Finmeccanica controls 40% of the company.
