American coal and water supplies the power for American Municipal Power. The non-profit membership organization supplies wholesale power to 82 community-owned distribution utilities in Ohio, 30 in Pennsylvania, six in Michigan, five in Virginia, three in Kentucky, and two in West Virginia. American Municipal Power and its members own and operate plants that generate 580 MW of power. The company also handles projects on behalf of the Ohio Municipal Electric Generating Agency (OMEGA) Joint Ventures program (jointly owned generation and transmission projects). The power generation company is owned by its member municipalities. American Municipal Power member utilities serve almost 575,000 customers.
