Company Description
American Mortgage Acceptance Company (AMAC) had to accept the things it could not change, namely that buckled under the pressures of the mortgage and credit markets. The real estate investment trust (REIT) originated and invested in multifamily residential mortgages and bridge and mezzanine commercial loans. Its portfolio also included mezzanine and commercial-backed mortgage securities. As a result of the economic downturn and severely limited liquidity levels, the company halted all investing and was delisted from the AMEX exchange in 2008. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2010. A
