A renewable energy company, Alkane aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, through the capturing of coalbed methane and its conversion to energy. The company designs, builds, and services containerized methane treatment plants and power generation facilities that use biogas, landfill gas, sewage gas, and coal mine methane (CMM). Alkane operates 12 CMM-to-electricity sites in the UK. In 2010 the company had a generating capacity of 38 MW from CMM, conventional gas, and biogas plants.
