Albany Capital, formerly Bionex Investments, was an investment firm that at one point focused on investing in health care and biotech companies in the UK. However, in 2007, the company switched its strategy to focus on investments in established companies in China with the intent on bringing them to market on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange. Since then, it has acquired and taken public soya sauce maker China Food Company and sorbic acid and potassium sorbate producer Sorbic International. It maintained significant minority stakes in both firms, around 20% and 39%, respectively. An affiliate of HSBC owns more than a third of Albany Capital. To read the full description, subscribe now.
