The company once made pollution control systems, owned gold mines, and made unsuccessful forays into both the data storage and restaurant fryer businesses. It also made radio-frequency ID (RFID) tracking devices for correctional facilities through its TSI PRISM subsidiary until that line of business was sold in 2010 to Alabama-based Black Creek Integrated Systems for about $2 million in cash.
