Alain Afflelou has its eye on the French optometry market. The company operates a network of more than 750 stores (most of them are franchised), offering optical services and glasses from the Alain Afflelou brand collections. Alain Afflelou is eyeing Spain, too. The company owns more than 90 stores throughout the country and bought Spanish eyecare company F2L in 2005. In early 2006, British investment firm Bridgepoint Capital acquired a majority stake in Alain Afflelou. Optometrist Alain Afflelou opened his first eyewear store in France in 1972.
