Air Lease doesn't really lease air, unless of course you include the air inside the cabins of its fleet of airplanes. An aircraft leasing company, Air Lease buys new and used commercial aircraft from manufacturers and airlines and then leases to airline carriers in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and the Americas. Its fleet is primarily made up of about 45 narrowbody and widebody Boeing and Airbus passenger airplanes that it leases to Air Berlin (26% of revenues), Air France (15%), and other major carriers. In addition to leasing, Air Lease also offers fleet management services such as lease management and sales. Founded in 2010 by former ILFC CEO Steven Udvar-Házy, Air Lease filed to go public in 2011.
