Company Description

Honeymooners, as well as those less romantically bound, are welcome on Air Jamaica. It transports passengers to some dozen destinations, mainly in the Caribbean but also the US. It operates a fleet of about 10 Airbus jets, mostly A-320s. The carrier extends its network in North America and Europe through code-sharing alliances with carriers such as Air Canada and Virgin Atlantic. (Code-sharing allows airlines to sell tickets on one another's flights.) Air Jamaica first launched in 1966 but restructured in 2004. Caribbean Airlines gained majority control of Air Jamaica in 2010; the following year Caribbean Airlines completed its takeover, giving the Jamaican government, Air Jamaica's former owner, a 16% stake.
