Africa Israel Investments now calls itself AFI Group because its interests span so many industries and continents. Its business segments - which operate through numerous subsidiaries and affiliates (some publicly traded) - include real estate development; rental property; construction and infrastructure (through Danya Cebus); energy (through Alon); and hotels and leisure. The company also franchises Inditex retail stores in Israel and has controlling states in Tadiran Telecom and a TV station. Major geographic areas include Israel, Eastern Europe, Russia, and the US. AFI Group was founded in 1934 by a group of South African Jewish investors. Chairman Lev Leviev controls half of the company's stock.
