Adirondack Park Agency Rankings
Company Description
In the Northeastern corner of New York state, campers, hikers, and nature lovers of all sorts flock to Adirondack Park. The park is the largest publicly protected area in the lower 48, bigger than Yellowstone, Glacier, Everglades, and Grand Canyon National Parks combined. New York’s Adirondack Park Agency (APA) oversees the 2.6 million acres that belong to the state; the total acreage is 6 million acres and includes more than 3,000 lakes and 30,000 miles of rivers and streams. The agency develops long-range plans for use of the entire area, protects the public land, and manages the development of private lands within the park. The New York State Legislature created the APA in 1971.
