Adir International (dba La Curacao) operates about 10 La Curacao department stores in downtown Los Angeles and Orange County, California, that cater to Hispanics. The stores sell consumer electronics as well as appliances, furniture, books, music, and other merchandise, which it will ship to Mexico or Central America. La Curacao sells most of its merchandise on credit to some 500,000 customers who carry the La Curacao credit card. The company also operates a travel agency and offers Internet and long-distance calling services. It was founded by a pair of Israeli brothers, CEO Ron Azarkman and marketing VP Jerry Azarkman, who also own the franchise for Pollo Campero, the popular Guatemalan fried chicken restaurants.
